The Marc Chagall retrospective is the major exhibition of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium for early 2015. This impressive catalogue recounts the complete artistic career of Chagall, from the first paintings of 1908 to the last monumental works of the 1980s.
The catalogue addresses the major themes important to the artist, such as Jewish culture and folk tradition, whilst also dealing with the discovery of light and the treatment of colour as well as particular subjects such as theatre, opera and 17th century literature (specifically La Fontaine). The original poetic language of Chagall, accurately reproduced, takes the reader into an astonishing universe by means of very bright and airy colours, a witness of these multiple cultures and traditions.
